Charles Holden is the architect of Bristol Central Library and several more famous buildings. Holden’s Silence was produced for the centenary of Bristol Central Library’s construction. It looks forward anxiously to a time a hundred years hence, when the library is surrounded by a thick forest of brambles and trees: a sort of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, whose secrets wait to be reawakened.
